JSES Spikers buck slow start, topple JRES Netters
It was a powerful display of guts, unwavering spirits, and persistence. And in the end Juan Sumulong Elementary School achieved what is worthy of their excellence.
JSES bucked a slow start as it downed JRES, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, in the 2024 Sports Division Volleyball Championship at the Epifanio Elementary School Covered Court in Pasay City on Thursday, Feb. 14.
Cuneta Elementary School Hitters turned to veteran setter Tashiro Latorre to deliver a variety of plays that had the Kalayaan Elementary School scrambling for defense to post their third win.
The win snapped JSES’s three game skid including and upset defeat at the hands of JRES, 26-24, yesterday.
Latorre steered the crew with 20 excellent sets, allowing captain ball MVP Dustine Batomalaque firing 20 kills for 21 points.
John Ben Mark Gado also pumped in 17 points including 16 attacks.
“Lesson samin yung bawal mag slow start kasi mabigat mag-serve yung JRES na nag-cause samin ng kaguluhan sa first set. Buti nakarecover naman kami kaagad don,” said JSES coach Irene Bernardino.
Despite bowing in the opening frame, JSES refused to be intimidated as it slowly regained its composure particularly in the third set, 2-1 set lead.
