Fifty-three selected JSES pupils from Kinder to Grade VI received grocery packs during the “Christmas in February, A Gift Giving Project” held at the school’s covered court on February 14. The project spearheaded by the JSES Faculty Club together with the JSES GPTA and JSES Class of 1976 was an outreach meant to make a difference in the lives pupils who belong to families in need by giving a bag full of grocery items and food packs.
The project began last December 2018 wherein donors chose color coded balls from a Christmas tree. An amount was written on each colored ball and donors picked how much they wanted to donate. The total amount collected was used to buy grocery packs for the pupils.
Class advisers from Kinder to Grade VI were tasked to identify and recommend which pupil in their respective class belongs to the families in need.
“We thank everyone for this project and for making us feel special. It’s a great help to our family,” said Shella Mae Cruz of VI-Zircon. She and her siblings are being raise solely by his father who works as a regular tricycle driver and serves as a watchman in Barangay 132, Pasay City.
Mrs. Pamela Onnagan, JSES Faculty Club President acknowledged the wholehearted support of Miss Norma Jamon, JSES principal and other donors especially the JSES retirees who attended the event.
Mrs. Teresa Balite, a retired Grade V Science teacher and canteen manager together with Miss Martha Luz Himan, former school Guidance Counselor assisted in giving the grocery packs to the pupils.
Officers of the JSES GPTA led by Mrs. Glody Nuñez, and Barangay Kagawad Mr. Jojo Alcoriza lauded the project and reiterated their support in future school projects.
Miss Jamon and Mrs. Onnagan handed the donors certificates of appreciation to recognize their deed.
The gift-giving program that lasted for less than an hour was spiced by entertainment numbers provided by Kindergarten pupils. Jem Matthew C. Africa, Kinder-Pinya gave a lively and animated storytelling piece in Filipino trained by Mrs. Gladys Señal. He ranked 2nd place in Storytelling in the 2019 Cluster 2 Festival of Talents.
“Cariñosa” and “Chili Cha-Cha” were performed by selected pupils trained by Miss. Frances Rose Pelacio. The “Cariñosa” little folkdancers ranked third, while the “Chili Cha-Cha” performers championed in the said competition and will represent Cluster 2 in the 2019 Division Festival of Talents.
